The 5th Milestones in Metrology conference, that took place in Amsterdam from 25 to 27 May 2016, was a success. Milestones in Metrology is the international metrology platform for manufacturers and end-users of measurement instruments, regulators and metrological experts. During this lustrum edition, nearly 200 participants and 42 speakers from all over the world gathered to exchange ideas and discuss the challenges in their working field.
The central theme was ‘future-proof’. In the 21st century world, constant and rapid progress of design and applications is the new normal for measuring instruments. Particularly now that former stand alone measuring instruments are becoming part of networks to enable new business models. Legal requirements and testing methods are, or should be, evolving accordingly. It is therefore of invaluable importance to be prepared by evaluating the upcoming changes from different angles and points of view. These different points of view were gathered during the Milestones in Metrology V conference.
We hope that attending Milestones in Metrology V has substantially enhanced your understanding of how legal metrology and technological developments are connected. Accurate and authoritative information was shared by stakeholders who helped us to pave our way into the future and to create innovative, future-proof solutions. Thank you to them and to our fantastic sponsors, who made this event possible.
The impressive building of EYE Amsterdam generated a futuristic atmosphere which strengthened the plenary opening speech of astronaut André Kuipers. Another inspiring highlight was the Flip-thinking/Omdenken session. Like in previous editions of Milestones in Metrology, the social evening programs offered plenty of networking opportunities, good food and entertainment.
It was great to have you in Amsterdam. See you at MiM VI!
